Day 1……… The Workout

So, now that you are all decked out and you’ve finally stepped into the gym with your friend who has been going to the gym all his life, which no doubt is a pro at working out and knows exactly what to do to help get you into shape. You head into the high impact aerobic class where everyone looks so energized and coordinated. Then after an hour of what felt like a lifetime he drags you into the gym and the next thing you know you are lifting more weight than you can manage. After 2 hours of cardio and weights, you could still do more, but you finally decide to go home get something to eat, a shower and call it a day.

The next morning you realize you can’t move, you are in pain all over your body, you can’t move and you are beginning to wonder what went wrong.

Here are 10 simple rules of Do’s and Don’ts when you are new at a health club

1.    Whenever you signed up at a health club always let the front desk personnel know that you are new to the environment and ask for assistance from a certified instructor which is a part of your package when you sign up at Spartan Health Club.

2.    Your instructor will then speak with you regarding your objectives and get you started on a program that is suited for you.

3.    You should not work out with your friend’s program, simply because you may have a different objective, a different body type, previous injury or injuries, and you may not have the same workout schedule.

4.    Your instructor will get you started on a program and will assist you in tracking your progress that will help you achieve your goal whatever it may be.

5.    You need to be properly supervised for at least the first 4 weeks at your health club, before you are left on your own. Your instructor is there to help with the prevention of unwarranted injuries, while answering any questions you may have regarding your fitness regime

6.    Your instructor will design your program that won’t be designed to leave you a paraplegic for the next few days, moreover, workout is supposed to have you feeling energized not half dead

7.    Don’t allow anyone to get take you off track from your objective. You will need to stick with your program for at least 4-6 weeks before you begin to see any noticeable difference

8.    If this is the first time you have ever dedicated yourself to a workout program and results is what you are hoping to get, you will need to modify your nutrition in order to see results.

9.    Do not follow your friend’s diet either that is another mistake often made when trying to get in shape.

10.   Spartan Health Club has a nutritionist on staff that will be more than happy to get you started on your healthier lifestyle journey.

And again to be continued, reason being this is a journey, not a destination.
