January 13, 2010
All across the world we witnessed the suffering, loss and damage caused by the 7.0 quake on January 12, 2010. For days we all stayed glued to the TV, radio and other media outlets for updates as the death toll seemed to rise. With a quarter of a million lives gone, roads impassable, buildings imploded, piles of rubble and survivors in need of assistance, the outpour of international love and aid was unforeseen but nevertheless welcomed. Businesses, offices, schools and other individuals pooled resources to get water, toiletries, food etc. With Spartan announcing that it would be a drop off point for the public and a “Help for Haiti” sign posted in the gym, it only took minutes before the Spartanites were called to action. Spartan acknowledges all its members and other Jamaican citizens for answering the call and responding in such great fashion!! You and so many other Jamaicans helped to contribute to the rebuilding of a fellow Caribbean nation.
